Bigwood’s sale on Friday 28thSeptember at 10.30am features over 900 lots with some outstanding entries including to date:

The Salmon Collection of W W QUATREMAIN (1857-1930) watercolours originally commissioned by J.Salmon Ltd. for their postcard collection in the early 1900s and now to be sold as part of their Archive Sale. The works include scenes in Stratford upon Avon such the original Theatre before the fire, the Gower Memorial, the American Fountain in the market square, views of The Parade in Leamington Spa and many others.

A private collection of 19th and 20th century oil paintings by noted artists; ALFRED DE BREANSKI, SNR. (1852-1928), MARC ALDINE (1873-1956) - (A. Bouvard Snr.), JOHN FREDERICK HERRING JNR (1815-1907), GEORGE WRIGHT (1860-1942), WILLIAM MELLOR (1851-1931), JULIUS VON BLAAS (1845-1922), CLAUDE PRATT (1860-1935) and many others.

A Collection of Hardy Fishing equipment from the Chairman of the company who owned the Hardy’s of Alnwick business until some years ago, offers many reels and rods as well as a Centenary Boxed set and 40 other rods and reels.

WEBLEY SCOTT Air pistol the last one produced at the Birmingham factory before it closed. Also interesting ephemera, certificates and microfilms from the companies archive.

OVER 35 Sporting Guns will be on sale, timely for the 2018 shooting season. There are a number of gun cases including one bearing the label “JAMES PURDEY & SONS, LONDON”.

TAXIDERMY will also feature, with part of a private collection including a Wild Boar’s head trophy shot in the Loire in 1901, a Polar Bear skin with head, VAN INGEN & VAN INGEN OF MYSORE A Leopard skin with head "Leopard Moon" & many others.
